Salomon Arcane Prime MIPS – Ski helmet for skiers who need no explanation
Anyone who skis 15 days a year and knows what a direct ski means also knows what they want from a helmet. No system that explains what it does. No visor that can't be opened in poor light. No weight penalty for features you never touch. The Salomon Arcane Prime MIPS is made for exactly this attitude – and consistently implements it.
MIPS – not the loudest feature, but the right one
The Mips rotational impact protection system (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) reduces shear forces during oblique impacts. The internal system allows a minimal, controlled rotation of the head during a fall – energy is redirected before it reaches the brain at full force.
Oblique impacts are the most common type of fall on the slopes and off-piste. MIPS is not noticeable because you don't notice it when it's working. This is not a deficiency – it is precision.
What "purist" means on the slopes
In skiing, purism has a concrete meaning: the turn is more important than the equipment discussion. A purist measures a product by what it does – not by how many features are in the data sheet.
The Arcane Prime is not a helmet with a promise that it fulfills through visible technology. It fulfills it through what matters after a long day: it fit well, it didn't pinch, and it protected at the right moment. The rest is design – and that has character with the Arcane Prime.
In the context of the Salomon range
If you're comparing Salomon helmets at Sport Adler: The Husk Pro is even more minimalist – functional, without extras, for skiers who want a helmet without discussion. The Driver Prime SIGMA models go in the other direction: integrated visor system, photochromatic or interchangeable lens, maximum light control. The Arcane Prime lies in between – with its own character, consciously positioned, not as a compromise.
If you know you don't want a visor, but a helmet with real design: This is the Arcane Prime.
All-Mountain without limitation
All-Mountain does not mean "just about suitable for everything". It means: no specialization that excludes other conditions. If you switch between piste, powder, and changing conditions and don't want to own two helmets for it, this is the right place.
Who is the Arcane Prime MIPS for?
For skiers and snowboarders with 10 to 20 ski days per year, who know what they want – and don't need a retailer to explain it to them. Who always distinguish between "good enough" and "just right". And for everyone for whom MIPS, honest design, and a clear head at the end of the day are enough – because they know that that is actually enough.
If you are not sure whether the Arcane Prime fits your head shape, or whether you should rather go for the SIGMA Photo or another model: We ski ourselves and know the differences. Call or write us – we will answer specifically, not with a standard response.
